CONFERENCE PROGRAM - DAY 1 - TUESDAY 21 NOVEMBER
The 2023 TNRM Conference Program includes a mix of podium presentations, interactive workshops, displays and opportunities for delegates and event partners to meet and network.
Join us to participate in interactive workshops. See information about available sessions below.
MORNING SESSIONS: 8.30AM - 12.00PM

Agriculture Forum -
Resilience opportunities
8.30am - 12.00pm
This workshop aims to identify and map known infestations of gamba grass on tenures in the Darwin area (density and extent where possible), acknowledging current management efforts, to help inform where adjoining parcels are impacting on each other.
Large scale maps will be provided for annotation and discussion.
This will lead to defining and prioritising ‘geographic management blocks’ (i.e. compared to tenure based management) for gamba grass control and compliance activities, and where the opportunities exist to maximise benefits from the Gamba Army.

New & emerging tools & technologies to improve threatened species monitoring
8.30am - 12.00pm
Attracting and retaining a skilled workforce for natural resource management jobs has always had challenges, but in recent years it's become really difficult. Covid travel restrictions haven't helped.
This half day workshop will bring together good practice processes in recruitment and retention plus how to then tailor this to the current demands of working in the natural resources, agribusiness and land management sectors.

AFTERNOON SESSIONS: 1.00PM to 4.30PM

Land use change, social, economic & environmental futures in the NT
1.00pm - 4.30pm
Darwin Convention Centre
The Northern Network of Australian Marine Parks covers a vast 150,000 square kilometres of ocean off the north coast of Australia. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been managing sea country in this area for tens-of-thousands-of-years. This workshop shines a light on partnerships with Traditional Owners and Indigenous rangers, and invites discussion on key areas for future collaboration such as management of ghost nets, natural and cultural values, and monitoring the marine environment.
